Vegetable Maths Masters is a free maths app using vegetables. Children can practice maths skills whilst playing with real images of vegetables in a fun way which also teaches children about the names of the vegetables and helps to make them more familiar. The app is designed to maths and also encourage healthy eating.

Children can choose from six different characters to play with in the game and ‘feed’ them vegetables. Characters are happy and enjoy eating vegetables!

The game has 3 levels for children aged 3-4 years, 5-6 years and 7 years plus. The game choices are:

- Tracing numbers 1-10 with vegetables
- Counting numbers 1-10 by feeding vegetables
- Matching numbers of vegetables in a card game
- Adding and subtracting with vegetables (numbers 1-10)
- Basic fractions; half, quarter and third of numbers up to 8
- Multiplication and division using 2, 5 and 10 times tables

Children earn stars for correctly completing the tasks and can use these to buy Chloe the Carrot, Bertie the Broccoli; Polly the Pea and Sam the Squash! As they earn stars they can buy shoes, clothes and accessories to decorate these vegetables.

Parents can choose which vegetables children play with from a choice of 10 different vegetables which can be “turned on” or “turned off” in settings.

The app has been developed by academic experts in child eating behaviour and has been designed with input from children, parents and teachers. It is underpinned by research evidence into effective ways to children’s mathematical skills and to promote healthy eating.

The development of Vegetable Maths Masters has been funded by the charity: the British Psychological Society. It is free to and ment free.
